Varitek’s New Venture

So after 15 years Jason Varitek will call it a game on Thursday.

As we bid farewell to the “captain” I can help but wonder what’s next for Varitek?

There have been the report’s of an undefined “job within the organization” as well as future business ventures.

All of this sounds great and I’m sure whatever he goes with he’ll do great but… I feel there is only one natural fit for Varitek.

Jason Varitek needs to sweat it out as a minor league coach/manager so he can someday become a future big league manager.

It’s a perfect fit. Varitek has all of the tools need to guide a big league club. If you need an example look no further than Mike Scioscia.  The Angels of whatever they are called have had a solid skipper in Scioscia for over a decade.

Now I know some of you might be thinking well if Varitek has such good leadership skills how come he couldn’t stop chicken gate?

While he was the captain he was also still just a player I believe if he were the manager the only spread in the clubhouse would have been veggie.

So as we say goodbye to Varitek I hope we haven’t seen the last of him on a baseball field.

Va

Sveum.mackanin ???

John Farrell we know was suspose to be the next manager of the Red Sox but, he left last year for the Jays . There have since been a bunch of names that have surfaced . The first two interviewed this week Dale Sveum, Pete Mackanin seem to be the best two choices. Who will be at the helm in 2012?

Short and Sweet

We’re only in June but, it seems as if this season has been already a full 162 .

At last the beantown 9 have found .500 . I think even though both Lackey and Dice K are on the D.L the pitching will surive and the Red Sox will be all right . A-Gone  is finally showing what we all though all along and Josh Beckett is showing that he still has ace stuff .

Statement Series in New York

Look let’s be honest , Anytime the Red Sox and Yankees get together it’s over hyped.

We love it just the same but, you’d be kidding yourself if you didn’t call it loaded with hype.

They’ll talk about how the Red Sox went out and spend all the money but, the Yankees are in first . They’ll talk A-Rod , A-Gone and Crawford, but I think they need to look at the past few weeks. The Sox have less the Toronto series have been playing better baseball while the Yankees have been proving they are not perfect .

The trio of Clay, Josh and Jon should  be a good 1-2-3  punch but… I think there is going to be more in this series than just strong pitching . I also think that the bats will come alive . So get ready nation it’s Statement time in NY

Jose Today

With Jed Lowrie feeling under the weather ( I can relate) Jose iglesias will get the start in Toronto. Should be a great sneak with what we’ll expect over the next few years from Iglesias .

In other news it has been reported by various sorces that the Red Sox may be interested in Benji Molina. This could be a good pick up but, I don’t know how I feel about two Vets at catcher .I think the Sox should stay within the system but thats just me. Well sorry for the short post off to get some rest .

Quick Thoughts

So nice walk off  yesterday now we get focus in on the Angels. Should be a good one pitching wise with Weaver and Clay. I am a bit worried about the bullpen and fear that we could see some new faces soon . I know it’s only May but I just think the Bullpen is seriously lacking .

Rich Hill, could be a name you see sooner or later. I hear that the Rem Dawg is still ailing. Get well Jerry we miss you . Finally on this breif post ( bit under the weather ) It is not a question IF the Red Sox will get hot it is more of a question as to when? Will it be too late?

I’ll pass on the Jellybeans just give me a Red Sox Win

Two more west coast games for the Red Sox then they’ll head back east to take on the new look O’s on Tuseday night. I thought Jon Lester looked sharper than a piece of cheddar . I just hope they can keep it up tonight and the Dice man can keep some of the magic from his start . I also hope thatI’ve consumed enough cup of joe to make it through another late night affair.

Tomorrow many of us will be celebrating Easter . So from me to you I hope every one has a happy and safe holiday . Many folks celebrate Easter in many ways some celerate it as the traditional religous holiday. While other’s celebrate it as a celebration of friends and family no matter how or if you celebrate may tomorrow be a great day . ( No matter what there’s baseball tomorrow so thats always a plus) .

Leaning to the Lefty

jon_lester-4387.jpgSo the rust is starting to fall off the wheels as the Red Sox continue their mach back to the top of the American Leauge east . Last night was real fun to watch , good pitching timely hitting good stuff. However, tonight the boys from Beantown face a real test in 4-0 Dan Haren. It isn’t as tough as it seems Jon Lester just has to be Jon lester and we’ll be good.

It was good to hear early reports that both Kevin Youkilis and Dustin Pedroia appear to be O.K. the Red Sox appeared to really dodge a bullet.

So get ready for a Friday night dual at the Big A should be a good one.
